Storage Unit Size Guide
What fits in each size of storage unit we rent.
The most common mistake is renting a unit that is too small. Make a list of the large items first, such as beds, couches and appliances, and then count boxes. If you are between two sizes, the larger one usually saves you a second trip. The drawings below show each unit loaded, with a six-foot person at the door.

10 x 10 storage unit
100 sq ft of drive-up accessible space, comparable to a small bedroom or half of a one-car garage. Suits the contents of a one- to two-bedroom apartment or multiple rooms, including furniture such as a queen-size bed and dresser, various appliances, and a significant number of boxes.

10 x 20 storage unit
200 sq ft of drive-up accessible space, approximately the size of a one-car garage. Holds the contents of a three-bedroom home, including multiple furniture sets, large appliances, and numerous boxes.

10 x 30 storage unit
300 sq ft of drive-up accessible space, approximately 2,400 cubic feet of volume, comparable to a large garage or small warehouse. Suits the contents of a 4 to 5-bedroom house, large equipment, contractor supplies, or significant business inventory.
How to get more into your unit
- Take beds and tables apart and stand mattresses and couches on end.
- Use boxes of the same size so they stack well, with the heavy ones on the bottom.
- Fill dresser drawers and appliances with small items.
- Leave a walkway down the middle so you can reach the back.
- Put the things you will need first near the door.
